Marketing Technique or The Truth – Understanding the Ads you See on the Internet

Posted by grndstf on November 16, 2007

I really never thought I would have to put this into writing. I actually assumed that everyone using the Internet understood this. But hey, I am a big thinker, I do not spend my time thinking about or sweating the small stuff. Until it came to my attention how harmful this is to the real business marketers out there and how silly it is for this to even be an issue.

So what is it? It is search engine results advertising, or pay per click advertising.

A couple of years ago, I took an Internet marketing class, although it was basically a waste of my time, there is one thing which really stands out from that class.

We were taught “when advertising on the Internet, find something that is really hot and connect your keywords to it” to generate more traffic and greater results. The example we primarily used was “who is hot in entertainment”. For example, if Britney Spears is in the news, use her as a keyword and link your site and your ad to anyone who is searching for information on her.

Well, at the time, I thought it was silly and actually unethical, so I never used that technique. After all, people searching for Britney would never be looking for a way to improve themselves or even a home based business.

But today, I find this tactic is being so badly misused in Internet Search Marketing. Google any legitimate business or person and what you will find is paid advertising, ads that blast or slam the company only to bring attention to another company.

I find this especially true in home based businesses, but don’t just take my word for it. Google any legitimate business, businesses where people are having amazing success and results and see for yourself what those with no ethics are doing.

You will find things like “Why I did not join”, Why I quit”, “This is a scam” and the disgusting antics go on and on and on.

Most Internet marketers would NEVER pay any attention to ads such as this. Marketers know these people are just using unethical approaches to ride the tide of success of other legitimate marketers. But the inexperienced public does NOT know this. Unfortunately they believe what these guys are saying. All they really have to do is click on the ads and see that it is actually an ad for another company. Duh! How hard is this to figure out??

Why do you think advertising always slams the other guy? If the other guy is hot, then jump on the bandwagon. That is all these sleazy people are doing, is jumping on the bandwagon of success. Making a disgusting attempt to legitimise themselves by disenfranchising the real marketer.

So, what do I suggest? Do your homework. Talk to people who are ACTUALLY involved in the opportunity so see what they think. Talk to the Attorney General of the listed home state, talk to the Association of Home Business, talk to the State Incorporation offices, they will tell you all you need to know. BUT, do not listen to unethical, sleazy people who do not know how to advertise without slamming another company.

Anyway, why would ANYONE want to get started with a business who bases it’s advertising on slamming other businesses? That would certainly be a red flag to me and businesses started with this technique are surely going to have little success. It is the law of nature, the Law of Reciprocity“.

And one more thing I absolutely must add here…

Adults have to be responsible for their own results in life. If someone fails at any business opportunity, it is because THEY failed. Either they did not follow the already proven systems (trying to reinvent the wheel), or they were waiting for someone else to do the work for them, or maybe even they never expected to succeed anyway. I truly believe this is why most failures occur, there was never a level of expectation for success.

You should also trust your feelings in these cases as well. If a product feels right, if it is hot, if it is cutting edge, and if others are having success, then there is no reason why you can not as well as long as you are willing to do the work.

So get out there and find what you are looking for, but stay away from paid advertising slamming your company and let those who are practicing this know, it DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU!

To your success…

Take Responsibility and Take Action – Your Life is Entirely Up to YOU

Posted by grndstf on September 24, 2007

I am reminded today by how powerful a simple thing such as taking action can be. I talked with a potential business partner today who had a huge amount of desire to have a multiple six figure income and the lifestyle that I live. She knew exactly what her life would be like when she doubled and then tripled her income.

But it stopped there, she just could not bring herself to take responsibility and to take action. She had tons of excuses and fear of making a decision to change her life and her results. You hear all the top coaches talk about moving from where you are to where you truly want to be. They always say “if you want something you have never had, then you must do something you have never done.”

So my question is, why is this so hard to understand? Or, maybe I should ask, why so much fear about taking control of your results? Your best ideas, thinking and actions get you to a situation where you are not happy with your life. Maybe you do not have enough money or maybe you have no time for your family, whatever the reason, you are where you are based on your thinking and your choices in life.

It is not an embarrassment to admit you are not where you want to be, 97% of people are in the same group. What should be embarrassing is to realize you are not where you want to be and where your family deserves to be, but then, do nothing about it.

So to my point. Adults may want more than they have, but instead of taking responsibility, taking action to change it and giving up what it takes to have it, they frequently choose to do nothing. Sure they come up with some great excuses, but that is exactly what they are, excuses. There is no excuse for not taking the action required to have what you want in life. There is no excuse for accepting what you are dealt when you have the ability to change everything.

There is enough of everything available for everyone to have exactly what they choose, plenty of prosperity to go around. It is all there for you. If others are living the lifestyle you would like to have, then there is no reason why you can’t as well.

So suck it up, set your goals, set your sites but then take action. Where you are is your responsibility as well as where you are going. In most cases, where you are going is a lot more exciting then where you have been.

To your success…

Financial Mindset – How much money are You Really Worth?

Posted by grndstf on June 6, 2007

I spend my days working with people to teach them how to make money and every day, take a serious look at the mindset people operate from. It is very interesting to see the result of someones life as it compares to their mindset. Simply said, I can only teach people to make what they think they are worth.

First of all, let me clarify. Living a prosperous life is not really about the money, it is about the lifestyle the money provides. It is about the freedom, the choices and the options available to those who create their lives.

But the greatest challenge to me is helping people to see that the amount of money they earn is directly relevant to how much they think they are worth. I talk with people everyday who see themselves in a very small place, the challenge is to move them to see the bigger picture.

What does this mean? Let’s do a very simple exercise. Take out a piece of paper and without much thought, simply write down on that paper how much money you want to make this year. What did you write? Was it $1 Million, $500,000 or maybe even $50,000?

Whatever you wrote on that piece of paper is what you are worth (today)! Value is a perception only, so if you have the perception that you are worth $50,000 then I am sorry to inform you, that is all you are worth (at this time). But you may say… sure, but it is June and the year is half over, or, I don’t know how to make more right now, my current salary is this or this or that or whatever!

The fact is, 90% of the result is the mindset. So if you see yourself making only $50,000 then you have the mindset of making that amount. On the other hand, if you see yourself making $500,000 this year, then that is the mindset you are working with and your chances of making that amount dramatically increase.

I have said in many of my articles that making a Million Dollars is the easiest thing in the world, the hard part is DECIDING to make a Million Dollars. It is one thing to WANT a Million, but if you have not decided to make it, then you are just in a state of want and will never move past that with your current thinking. Your current thinking is responsible for where you are today, in order to move beyond where you are, you absolutely must change your thinking.

Another very important point is this…

It is not your job to figure out HOW to make the amount of money you desire, it is your job to DECIDE what that amount is. Once you make a decision, which involves a fever of desire and an unstoppable mindset, then the method will come to you, but you must DECIDE first.

Bottom line, as I said, I work with people to show them how to use a simple system to achieve financial success. But, if a person has the mindset of $50,000 then they will take this Million Dollar opportunity and make $50,000 with it. On the other hand, if they have a Million Dollar mindset and desire, they will make the Million. The other person will literally leave $950,000 on the table for someone else to make and then complain that the opportunity is not worth more than $50,000.

Think about it very seriously. What is your financial mindset? Whatever it is, is what you are worth. Let’s talk later about how to increase that mindset.

Make it a fabulous day, you deserve it.

Praise and Celebrate Your Life – The Power of Gratitude

Posted by grndstf on May 17, 2007

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” Oprah Winfrey

This is a powerful quote and I encourage my readers to post this where they can see it everyday. Turn on the power of gratitude. Gratitude is an energy, a force, beyond all others.

You can not open the doors to receive in your life until you are grateful for what you have, and not just the things you have, but the circumstances the people, your mind, your inner power, your dreams, your desires, your life and all things touching your life. It is all a part of who you are and the future you have.

Be grateful

Plant Your Flag and Claim Your Success

Posted by grndstf on April 18, 2007

When great explorers found new territory, land, islands or even the moon, the first celebration always involved the planting of their flag. By this act, not only did they claim “the new land” but they also made the claim “I assume responsibility for the ownership of this new land”.

Have you planted your flag with your business? Have you claimed your business as your own? Have you claimed your business as your responsibility? Have your claimed the success of your business? Have you actually gotten excited about the unlimited possibilities of your business?

All are very important questions. Too often, we start businesses, especially from home and then never make the claim of success. Would an explorer have just passed by a beautiful uninhabited land and kept going, looking for the perfect land, a land with no challenges, no obstacles, looking only for a land with abundant life but no effort and no belief in the new land?

This is what new business owners do everyday. No wonder more than 80% of new home based businesses fail. There are many opportunities available to the home marketer and a very large majority of those are absolutely legitimate and offer the opportunity to achieve dreams.

The underlying factor of achieving success and experiencing failure must lie on the shoulders of the marketer. As Wallace Wattles points out in the amazing book “The Science of Getting Rich”, two people can do the same thing, in the same place, but one succeeds and the other fails. Only because the successful person “did things in a certain way”. Or as Napoleon Hill suggests in his amazing book “Think and Grow Rich”, One must operate a business as an entrepreneur instead of an employee.

When it comes to your business, the time is “NOW”. Do not wait for the perfect time, the perfect person, or the perfect teacher. Waiting will destroy your business and it will never succeed. The time is now to take action. Be the leader in your business. Apply the “certain way” to your business and of course your attitude. That “certain way” separates leaders from followers. In order to succeed at any business, you must be the leader. Leaders are irresistibly attractive to other leaders.

When you fail to be the leader, you are therefore the victim. The victim gives away all power, the victim will never succeed because no one who is looking to succeed will associate or give any authority to the word of a victim. Leaders look to work with other leaders.

So plant your flag. Claim success for your business. Read these two powerful books and apply the principles in them now, not later. Be the outrageously successful leader you truly are.

Plant your flag and claim your success today!

After the Decision – What is the Next Step?

Posted by grndstf on March 5, 2007

I have written in many of my articles about the power of making a decision. Having anything you desire requires making a decision to have it. The movie “The Secret” talks about the power of deciding what you want. “Think and Grow Rich”, “The Traveler’s Gift”, “The Science of Getting Rich”, “Ask and it is Given”, and any other book focusing on manifestations or the Law of Attraction tell us first and foremost you must make a decision to have what you desire.

But what happens after you make a decision? In my coaching experience, I hear from many people “well, I made a decision, but nothing happened”. Excuse me! What did you EXPECT to happen? Did you expect bags of money to drop on your doorstep after you decided to be rich? Did you expect the man of your dreams to knock on your door after you decided to get married? Did you expect your children to stop being kids when you decided to get more in touch with them?

Then I hear, “I made the decision but I just couldn’t figure out how to make it happen”. I hear this everyday, so I definitely want to address this, because it is probably the number one reason people give up on their dreams.

When you make the decision to change your life, you must first of all be OPEN to it changing and secondly and most importantly, it is not your job to figure out how to make it happen! Once you make the decision and you know that your life is changing and put into your heart the expectation of change, God, or The Universe (if you prefer), will bring the way to you. Your life will rearrange itself to make the decision come to fruition. And, the way may be by a method you never expected. But what it will definitely be is a means for you to reach your goal, or an opportunity for you to reach your goal, or a person who leads you to another person, or a new job offer, or an unexpected letter of money owed to you, or someone in a grocery line that tells you about a business opportunity.

What it takes is trust and expectation. Once you have made the decision, just allow it to happen. There is no need to worry about how things will happen. Just be open to new situations and new people in your life. Everyone coming into your life is there for a reason and you must be open to why they were put in your path.

Here is a perfect example, I recently talked with a gentleman who “decided” to find a home business opportunity that would get him out of a job that he hated. In our coaching, we were talking about the power of making the decision and how to make the decision and make sure it is a true desire and from the heart.

Then he said to me “I made this decision, expecting to find the right opportunity, and I had some interesting opportunites presented to me, one in particular that it seemed everyone I talked to was involved in, but when I did research on them I found there were people who did not have success and I have to find something where everyone succeeds or it must be a scam.” It took me a couple of minutes to gain my composure on this one.

After finally composing myself, here are the points I made to him:

1) If you made the decision, then the universe must bring you opportunities that will take you to your goal
2) If you second guess the universe, then you are not trusting God to help you
3) Could there be a reason the same opportunity kept presenting itself?

And the most important:

4) You never made the decision, you are still trying to do it yourself. You must trust your decision and allow the answer to “come to you”.

But let me get off the path for a moment…. 99% of business opportunities are legitimate. It is the people who are in the business who are not succeeding, not the business. If anyone starts a home business and expects to be scammed, or expects “it” to fail, “it” has no choice but to fail. The Law of Attraction gives you what you expect. So, if you start a business and know, absolutely know that you will have amazing success, then you will have success. But if you are just putting your toe in the water to see if something works, it will not work, so don’t waste your time.

Let me wrap this up. Make a decision and let the Universe bring the way to you. You do your job with the decision, the Universe does it’s job by bringing you the opportunity to receive your desire.

Let yourself have what you want in life. Let yourself receive what it is you decided to have.

Make it a great day.

The Buck Stops Within – Accept Responsibility for your Success

Posted by grndstf on February 24, 2007

The Buck Stops Within – Accept Responsibility for your Success: “We often hear the famous quote “The Buck Stops Here”, but how does that apply to your endeavor to succeed in life and in business?

When you get down to the nitty gritty of success in any area, it is everything! First of all, you must accept the fact that wherever you are in business, relationships, spiritual life or health, is a result of the choices you have made in your life. You may not have chosen the specific destination, but the choices you made along the way, have placed you exactly where you are today.

We live in a blame society, everyone wants to blame someone else for pretty much everything. This blame trend is actually disintegrating empowerment in people’s lives. No one is in control of someone else unless that person allows it to happen. “

You can only accomplish total success when you are willing to accept responsibility for yourself.

So what areas do we accept responsibility for? Very simple, everything.

1) Be responsible for every thought: Everything begins with a thought. Thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to actions and actions lead to results or the lack of results. So first of all, take total responsibility for what you are thinking. Your conscious mind only knows what the subconscious mind tells it. So control your thoughts, keep them positive, focused and clean of anything destructive.

2) Be responsible for your feelings or emotions: What you attract into your life is what you give energy to, or what you give emotion to. Emotion is what drives the Law of Attraction. Emotions are also what brings trouble into lives, so until you control your emotions, you will never have control over your life and your results.

3) Be responsible for your actions: Any action has a reaction. In every area of your life, if you do not control your actions then you have no control over the reaction. If you are controlling your thoughts, that will assist in controlling your emotions and in turn, the appropriate action should be easier for you to control.

4) Be responsible for your results: Everything you have in your life, everything you are in your life, everything you will ever have or will be is entirely up to you.

Take control and full responsibility for these 4 areas of your life and you will find that tomorrow will not be the same as today. The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing, expecting different results. In order to change the path you may be on at this time, you must accept responsibility for yourself.

I am certain you will be amazed at how enlightening it is when you focus on being responsible for yourself. We will talk at another time about letting the past go, but I must add briefly.

Once you accept responsibility for your past, you must let it go. It has no affect on where you will be in the future, unless you let it control you.

In the meantime, make it a great day, you deserve it.

Success begins with a Decision

Posted by grndstf on January 19, 2007

Success begins with a Decision: “I am truly amazed at how often I hear people talk about what they want and yet when I ask them if they have made a decision to have it, they are either totally dumbfounded or find the question very funny. I see so many people who are living their lives just wishing and wanting and the truth is, wishing and wanting will never get you anything or anywhere.”

Moving Beyond a Challenge

Posted by grndstf on January 11, 2007

Life presents us with challenges. A simple but true reality. The obvious question is why some people deal with adversity or challenges, better than others, why some people conquer challenges and others just woefully submit to them, only to wait for the next challenge to come. Is there something underlying here, something that some people have that others do not that allows them to deal with challenges better? How do you handle your challenges? Do you balk in the face of them or do you move through them like a Sherman Tank? Do you relive them over and over or do you forget them once they are resolved? Do they energize you or suck the life out of you? Are you grateful for them or devastated by them? These are important questions that you should evaluate for yourself.

As an avid student of personal development and personal responsibility, I have learned one thing above all else. The spiritual and environmental laws, not legalistic laws that govern us on this earth bring us challenges. Sometimes they are major, other times they are minor, the key though is how we deal with them. The Law of Attraction is very simple, you attract into your life what you think about, talk about and expect, or in other words “what you think about will come about”. Any situation you have in your life, good or bad, is there because you attracted it. There is a reason why you have adversity and challenges always coming up in your life.

Let’s take a look at some important factors in dealing with challenges:

1. Any situation you have in your life is the result of choices you have made and what you expect to happen. Have you ever had something happen and find yourself saying “see, I knew that was going to happen”? Take a few minutes to look at your challenge. Walk though the events leading up to it and identify the choices you made that might have created it. Write down those choices. Once you have done this, go through the list one by one and strike them out, writing out what choice you could have made instead that would have given you a different outcome.

2. Say to yourself “This is my problem and I am going to correct it.” Attitude is everything when it comes to getting through a challenge.

3. Talk with someone who is very positive and supportive. You should never mentor with people who feed your problems. If the person you are listening to does not offer solutions and hold you accountable with positive support, find someone else to mentor you.

4. Embrace the opportunity to change the root of your problem. All problems are a result of the direction you are moving. Evaluate your direction and regroup.

5. Consciously make an effort to change your belief system. Get involved in a good personal development program and work on the paradigms that drive your beliefs.

6. Take control of your feelings. If you get emotionally involved with a problem, it will consume you and seem much bigger than it really is. Approach it without fear. You have total control over how you feel, choose to not feel fear.

7. Look only at the things that can go right, never look at what can go wrong. This will provide you with positive feelings, therefore having a positive effect on what you are attracting.

8. Set some major goals. If you are not working with a goal system, you should incorporate one immediately. By keeping your eyes on your goals, you will go right through adversities as a minor diversion and they will never consume you. Your goals should always be much bigger than your situation. If your goals are not big enough to get you through adversity, you should change your goals.

9. Create your own outcome. By visualizing, or creating a movie in your mind, of how you want things to play out and staying tuned into this movie, you will be able to overcome anything.

10. Be grateful for the challenge. A challenge is an opportunity for you to improve your beliefs, your goals, your optimism and your self esteem. Once you have overcome a challenge, you will look at it from a new direction, seeing it for what it really is, a diversion keeps things in perspective. Therefore, when the next challenge comes, you will move confidently closer to your actual goal.

Problems, adversities or challenges should never stop you from moving toward your goals. They may sometimes provide a slight diversion, but if your belief system and your desires are strong enough, they will never change your outcome. Always have faith that you are moving in the right direction. Keep in mind that fear and faith are the same thing, believing in something you can not see. However, one will destroy you and the other opens the door to endless possibilities. It is entirely your choice.
